Photo a Day Challenge - 30.8.2012 - Hidden.

Somewhere hidden in my home is this beautiful pair of Gingher Scissors.  I haven't seen them for about 5 years now and I have searched and searched... and no they are not in David's Garage!

Every time I need a pair of scissors I get a little bit sad and a little bit mad.  Where oh where are my beautiful Ginghers!

I am very tempted to buy a new pair but I know the minute I do these will turn up... what the heck I think I'll just go ahead and order myself a new pair, so what if I have two eh!

Smelly... delightfully beautifully smelly...

Thank you Alda, Pete, Amelia and Ashton... delightfully smelly and beautiful :-)

Pretty, oh so Pretty :-)

Pretty, oh so pretty... from Gwil :-)

Yesterday Nerys, Tim and Gwil spent the day with me, we decided to go down to Bobbin Head for lunch... lovely day, lovely idea... but Bobbin Inn was closed and the Galley Foods Restaurant burnt down on the 21st of last July.   Instead we sat in the sun at home with fresh bread rolls and BBQ Chicken :-)

David... have you seen this old photo of Double Decker Buses down at Bobbin Head?  We wouldn't be able to get a DD down there now days.

Pretty, oh so Pretty...  from Smurray :-)

And... Pretty, oh so Pretty from my tennis friends :-)

My Mum passed away yesterday morning, Rosie was a great Mum!

Yesterday morning, Rosie Rodd died peacefully in the arms of two nurses who were bathing her.
Rosie hadn't been up to her usual bright positive self for several weeks and had been in Hornsby Hospital for a while then Palliative care for one week.

About three weeks ago Rosie said all she wanted to say to us, she said she was wanting to go, she said her goodbyes, we said our goodbyes, she told us she loved us, we told her we loved her, she told us she'd had a wonderful life and was looking forward to meeting up with Dad.

Rosie also said that if we saw a rose bush moving it was her giving us a wave... my beautiful President Lincoln rose bush, waved to us several times yesterday.

We aren't having a service right now because our family are so scattered from Dubai to Macau, to London to Scotland and from Perth to Melbourne... but all of us will gather on Rodd Island between Christmas and New Year to scatter Rip and Rosie's ashes... they will be able to dance together at a place they loved to gather their loved ones.

I wonder what's down here?  No I don't... I know!

28 August 2012

Finishing touches being attended to on Albert, on a wet and miserable day in Scotland.

Photo a Day Challenge - 28-8-2012 - Clock.

Lovely old clock, but it's never worked, it's hung here for more than 30 years and only ever told the time twice a day :-)  Our regular visitors are used to it now but newer ones have been seen to wonder.

From David in Scotland

'Albert' on the right in the Bus Museum in Glasgow.

Three more of the participants of 'The Trip',  Alex, Rosemary and John.

David being a 'Domestic Goddess' in Carnbo, hanging out the washing.

This is a photo from the Glasgow Bus Museum,  I didn't like Glasgow's choice of colours for their buses when I was there a few years ago... I still don't!  There's something wrong with that orange and lime green that I find uncomfortable.

First photo of 'Albert the Albion'.

From David - Roy puts wheels back after brake job. Nifty lifting gizmo!

Roy is from England and one of the participants of the whole trip so I'll get to meet him in Sydney.  David says the brakes are now 100% after a couple of days work, sounds good to me.

Photo a Day Challenge - 8.4.2012 - Dream.

What a wonderful flashback to my teens, rock'n'roll and all that.
David and I saw the Everly Brothers in Sydney about 15 years ago, they were still amazing all those years later.
I have to admit to a few tears listening to this.

Photo a Day Challenge - 25.8.2012 - Fresh.

Nothing better in the whole wide world than freshly shucked OYSTERS!!  :-)  Yummo!

24 August 2012

I've met some of the nicest people over the internet. My newest best friend is Crystal who lives in Reading, U.K. We've never met but she knows I'm not feeling 100% ticketyboo at the moment so she sent me these...

Two lovely little Babushkas just waiting to be hung somewhere...

Until I think of something to hang them with,  I've given them to Snow White to keep an eye on and make them feel welcome.    Humpty Dumpty is keeping an eye on Top Cat, just in case he thinks baby Babushkas might taste better than fish!
Thanks Crystal, you are so very sweet... we will meet one day :-)

Photo a Day Challenge - 24.8.2012 - Path.

Isn't this path just beautiful, it was laid by Convicts at Cooma Cottage, home of Hamilton Hume.

David's mother bought this Cottage from one of Hume's Ancestors,  she had the roof replaced with one the same as Hume's original, then donated the Cottage to the National Trust.

Hume's Cottage used to be on the Hume Highway but they detoured it around Yass years ago and is now on Yass Valley Way, Yass.

You can visit it... click  Cooma Cottage.

Some photos from David.

This is the Cottage in Carnbo, Scotland, where David is staying at the moment, he tells me that Andy is sleeping in a tent!  There are many finishing touches that need doing to 'Albert', such as brakes, painting, bedding and so on.

David sent me this photo of what he called a Breezy BC!  I told him it looked like a poached egg on toast, burnt toast at that!  He was trying to type Brekky but spelling checker changed it LOL

David was on dinner roster last night.  This is Andy, owner of 'Albert',  I'm not sure what he thinks of his dinner...
David writes...  I made Tesco mild beef curry tins, red bean left overs canned tomato plus flour with boiled rice. Pronounced good.
Sent from Kings Cross Station... very generous of them eh!
Carnbo, Scotland.  Looks idyllic doesn't it.  'Albert' is in Glasgow at the moment so it's a fair way to travel to work on him.

Photo a Day Challenge - 23-8-2012 - Pair.

This is one pair of my Miniature Amish Quilts... there is another one almost finished and a fourth in my head!

22 August 2012

I know there are some of these around but I'd never spotted this one before... outside the Vets.

His wish to be on a Fantale wrapper hasn't come true yet, there's still plenty of time though.
In the meantime he's left his mark around here instead.

Photo a Day Challenge - 22.8.2012 - Home.

This is the Home of my Great Great Great Grandparents, Richard and Charlotte Cobcroft.  This home is much grander now.

You can see the Blue Mountains through the front door and out the back door.

My Great Aunt Carol was born and died in the same room aged 101!

While David's in London.....

David in London...

Yesterday David met up with Emma, Abi, Tilly and George at a friend of Emma's home.  It was lovely to see them as well as have a quick chat.

Yes... that is Emma, with red hair!  Tilly tells me she would like red hair like mummy's :-)  This is Laura in front, the DD of Emma's friend.

Photo a Day Challenge - 21-8-2012 - Cool.

How cool is this fridge in 'Steel' Restaurant at Wynard.

Photo a Day Challenge - 20.8.2012 - Today.

Two 'filled to the top' Green Waste bins with no room for the, dozen or so, fallen palm fronds or the rest of the tree litter all down the driveway... That's windy weather for you.

19 August 2012

One little daffodil :-)

David sent me some photos from London!

 LOL

David's thumb over some lovely ripe raspberries.

Photo a Day Challenge - 19-8-2012 - Hole.

David tried to get this old rotting root out of this hole under our brick veranda... he did it with a hoist!

18 August 2012

My first brave little Daffodil, opening up in the last of today's sun.

I need to be brave right now as well... I'll just sit and watch my little daffodil.

He's Arrived in London.

David is loving being back in London and staying with one of my distant rello's who just happens to run a B&B in Putney called Briar Walk.         This is the bit of the trip I do wish I was on :-)

Photo a Day Challenge - 18.8.2012 - Inside.

Just look at all the wonderful goodies inside this loaf of bread.

17 August 2012

All bodes well... he's had a sleep over in Seoul, sent us a photo, and now on his way to London.

Six lovely photos from afar... Thanks Tomo!

 At the Olympics.
 Haircut for Abi.

 Haircut for Tilly.

 Haircut for George as well.

Gosh!  What a grown up boy he is... almost three years old.
